The Wright County Visitor's Bureau invites you to attend the many activities that are planned each year.

Eagle Grove Historical Museum, open each Saturday and Sunday, 1 - 3 p.m.
 
Rowan Community Coffee each Saturday from 9 until 11 AM at the Library Community Room. Only exceptions are any dates when the community room is reserved.
 

APRIL

 Tuesday, April 1, weather permitting. All five golf courses in Wright County open for the season. Located in/near Belmond, Clarion, Dows, Goldfield and Eagle Grove.
 

MAY

On Saturday, May 24, the Heartland Museum opens for the season in Clarion. Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays and holidays from 1 - 4:30 p.m.from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. Any other times can be arranged by appointment. Call the museum - 1-515-602-6000.
 
 
Wright County Acquatic Centers or Swimming Pool open for the season. On Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting. Closing for the season on/near Labor Day. Bemond, Clarion, and Eagle Grove Acquatic Centers; pool at Oakridge Golf Course; and Dows Swimming Pool. Check with the city halls for complete details on hours, fees, schedules, availability for private parties.
 

JUNE

 
Tuesday, June 3, the 4-H Schoolhouse Museum opens in Clarion's Gazebo Park for the season. Open Hours are Tuesday and Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon (months of June, July, & August).  Other times by appointment. Clarion City Hall, 1-515-532-2487.
 
Beginning on Wednesday, June 4, pick up some homegrown or homemade goods at Dows weekly Farmers' Markets; Dows City Park from 5 - 6 p.m.
 
FARMERS MARKETS The first weekend in June, four Farmers' Markets open for the season in Wright County. Beginning on Wednesday, June 4, pick up some homegrown or homemade goods at Dows Weekly Farmers' Market, Dows City Park from 5 - 6 p.m. The Belmond Area Farmers' Market starts on Thursday, June 5 at Belmond City Gazebo Park between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.On Friday, June 6, watch for Weekly Eagle Grove Farmers' Market, Shoppers Supply Parking Lot, 3 - 6:30 p.m. Beginning Saturday, June 7, it is weekly Clarion Faremers' Market on the Wright County Courthouse Square, 10 a.m. - noon. Weekly markets continue through the end of September and may extend through several weeks in October, depending on the growing season. For more complete information, contact chamber offices or city halls.
 
From Monday, June 9 - Friday, August 1 - Summer Reading program - Eagle Grove Memorial Library - "Catch the Reading Bug".
 
From Monday, June 16 through August 8 - Eagle Wings SUMMER DAY CAMP - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Eagle Grove. For details, call 1-515-603-3621.

On Tuesday, June 24, Clarion Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins - Each Tuesday for four weeks - July 1, 8, and 15. "Catch the Reading Bug" with Library Director Nola Waddingham - 1-515-532-3673.
 
On Tuesday, June 24, Talbot Belmond Public Library Children's Summer Reading Program Registration, 440 East Main Street. Contact Karen 1-(641)-444-4160. Activities on July 1, 8, 15, and 22. For children entering first grade through fifth grade.
 

JULY

 
Dows Library Children's Summer Reading Program. Every Wednedsay morning in July. Check in with Librarian Gloria Stover - 1-515-852-4326, to learn more details. Plans include reading, crafts, activities, and events around the "Catch the Reading Bug" theme; 10 - 11:30 a.m.
 
CLARION THEATRE Summer Matinees. Enjoy the Clarion merchant sponsored summer matinees for five weeks each Tuesday, beginning July 8. Matinees are at at noon and 2:30 p.m. on July 8, 15, 22, 29, and August 5. Contact Deb at 1-515-532-2149.
 
On Wednesday, July 9, Rowan Public Library, located on Main Street, kicks off its four-week "Catch the Reading Bug" Summer Reading Program, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. includes story time, lunch, and crafts. Contact Joyce at 1-(641)-853-2327.
 

NOVEMBER

 
Clarion Theatre Holiday Matinees. It's Clarion merchant sponsored holiday matinees, beginning the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 28 & 29. Matinees are at noon and 2:30 p.m. and each Saturday until Christmas - December 6, 13, and 20. Contact Deb. at 1-515-532-2149.
 

MONTHLY

 
Texas JAM, a monthly musical jam session is held at the Heartland Museum in Clarion (except December), generally the third Friday night of the month. Jammers are to bring their musical insturments and play together, beginning at 6 p.m. Drinks are furnished; bring a food item. Pass the hat for $$ to offset room charges. Tenative dates are: April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 27, November 21, January 15, February 20, and March 20
 
The first Tuesday of each month is an opportunity to give blood at some location in Clarion. To schedule an appointment or learn of the location for that particular month, call the Blood Center of Iowa at 1-800-282-4901, extension 4889 or online at www.bloodcenteriowa.org .
