"The
town too tough to die!"

Galt is a small town and still
maintains a post office, and a Mayor/City Council form of government. The
railroad played a big part in the early history of Galt, and the present tracks
are part of the spur leading to Dows.
One of the
earliest forms of truck farming was the growing and processing of cucumbers. The
Pickle Factory helped farmers earn money during the Great Depression as several
train carloads were shipped to the eastern United States. The factory dismantled
in the early 1940's.
